About Me

Hi and welcome to Born Again Biker

This is a blog aimed at the ‘aging’ biker just like myself.

In my youth I was a very naughty boy and covered far too many miles on all sorts of machinery that I really, strictly speaking, shouldn’t have been riding.  This time around I’m behaving a little better.  I got back to biking after a 25 year break.  Like most family men play things, such as bikes, went by the by when the kids arrive.  Well, they’re now old enough to look after themselves and I get to play again.  Hurah !

Professionally I’m a professional services manager, dealing with print optimisation, solutions design, volume auditing and software systems to control the document life-cycle. If you’re sad enough to want to know more have a look on LinkedIn, I’m there.
From my experiences so far I know there are a lot of older chaps and chappesses out there thinking of getting back into bikes.  I wanted to share my adventures with you in the hope that you might actually take the leap and forget the getting old bit.  After all the object of life is not to arrive at the end with a perfectly preserved body but rather to slide in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberry in the other, body fully used with the scars to prove it, shouting “WHAHOOO what a ride !”

I have been a member of the Ulysses Club UK, the club for the more ‘mature’ biker…physical age wise that is, not mental age.  The Club motto is ‘Grow Old Disgracefully’ which fits extremely well with my personal philosophy. Sadly we have parted ways now but I still love motto and intend to continue in the same vein.

I also have serious concerns for the future of motorcycling. Consequently I am an active member of the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG). If you love our wonderful pastime don’t dither, sign up today before it’s too late. Our personal liberty and freedom to engage in motorcycling is being eroded rapidly and often by stealth. Don’t hesitate, get in there. After all, if you’re not part of the cure then you are by definition part of the problem.

Go on, get on a bike. You know you want too !
